Policies

This page sets out the editorial, operational, and content policies of Asfi Info Vignette Services. We are committed to providing accurate, honest, and useful information about the Austrian motorway vignette system.

Editorial Policy

All content on this site is written and reviewed by our editorial team with reference to official ASFINAG publications, Austrian government sources, and established motoring organisations. We do not publish content that we cannot verify against at least one official source.

We do not accept sponsored content, paid placements, or affiliate arrangements that would influence our editorial independence. Our only goal is to provide accurate, useful information to drivers.

Content standards: Factual accuracy • Clear attribution of sources • Regular review cycle • Prompt correction of errors • No misleading claims

Accuracy and Updates

Vignette prices, validity periods, and regulations are set by ASFINAG and the Austrian government, and are subject to change. We review our content at least annually and following any announced changes to the vignette system. However, we cannot guarantee that all information is current at the time of your visit.

We strongly recommend verifying current prices and regulations at the official ASFINAG website (asfinag.at) before purchasing a vignette or planning your journey. This is particularly important for pricing, as ASFINAG adjusts prices periodically.

Independence Policy

Asfi Info Vignette Services is an independent information resource. We have no commercial relationship with ASFINAG, the Austrian government, or any vignette reseller. We do not earn commission from vignette sales and do not direct users to any specific purchase channel for commercial reasons.

Our recommendations (e.g., "purchase the digital vignette in advance") are based solely on what we believe to be in the best interest of drivers, based on our understanding of the system.

Limitations and Exclusions

The following limitations apply to the information and services provided on this site:

Appeals Information

If you have received a fine for a vignette violation and wish to appeal, the process is as follows:

  1. Identify the issuing authority: The penalty notice will identify the Austrian district administrative authority (Bezirksverwaltungsbehörde) responsible for your case.
  2. Prepare your evidence: Gather all relevant documentation, including your vignette purchase confirmation, vehicle registration documents, and any other evidence supporting your case.
  3. Submit within the deadline: Appeals must be submitted in writing within four weeks of receiving the penalty notice. Missing this deadline will result in the fine becoming final.
  4. Address your appeal: Send your written appeal to the address shown on the penalty notice, clearly stating your objection and enclosing copies of your evidence.
  5. Await the decision: The authority will review your appeal and issue a decision. This may take several weeks.
  6. Further appeal: If your initial appeal is rejected, you may have the right to appeal to the Administrative Court (Verwaltungsgericht). Seek legal advice if you wish to pursue this option.
  7. Contact ASFINAG: For digital vignette issues (e.g., incorrect plate number), contact ASFINAG customer service directly as a first step, before the formal appeals process.
  8. Seek legal advice: For significant fines or complex cases, consider consulting a lawyer with experience in Austrian administrative law.
